Scientific Organisation

The DRD2 Themes

The collaboration will achieve this objective through the advancement of four R&D themes (DRDT), identified in the framework of the ECFA Detector R&D Roadmap. These themes are the following:

2.1: Develop readout technology to increase spatial and energy resolution for liquid detectors
2.2: Advance noise reduction in liquid detectors to lower signal energy thresholds
2.3: Improve the material properties of target and detector components in liquid detectors.
2.4: Realise liquid detector technologies scalable for integration in large systems

Work Packages

To pursue these themes, the DRD2 collaboration is organised into Work Packages, which are further separated into deliverables. Each Work Package functions as the basic organisational groups of the collaboration, which coordinates, guides, and supports activity between various institutions across DRD2. Work Packages also serves as the primary platform for knowledge sharing between member institutions.

Work Package 1:  Charge Readout (DRDT 2.1 and 2.2)
Work Package 2:  Light Readout (DRDT 2.1 and 2.2)
Work Package 3: Target Properties (DRDT 2.3)
Work Package 4: Scalling-up challenges (DRDT 2.4)

The scientific objectives and specific deliverables of each Work Package can be seen here.

Working Groups

DRD2 also has three Working Groups which pursue and coordinate wider strategic goals across all DRD2 Work Packages.

  1. Common Infrastructures & Facilities
  2.  Industry Connections & Technology transfer
  3. Training and Outreach
